We try to establish a dialin connection from an old Linux box (SuSE 6.x)
to an new one (SuSE 10.1). We try to authenticate with CHAP. Here's the
log:

pppd 2.4.3 started by root, uid 0
using channel 7
Using interface ppp0
Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS0
sent [LCP ConfReq id=0x1 <asyncmap 0x0> <auth chap MD5> <magic

rcvd [LCP ConfRej id=0x1 <auth chap MD5>]
sent [LCP ConfReq id=0x2 <asyncmap 0x0> <magic 0x24d2bb93> <pcomp>

No auth is possible
sent [LCP ConfRej id=0x1 <auth pap>]
rcvd [LCP ConfReq id=0x2 <mru 1500> <asyncmap 0x0> <magic 0x9f3b8e8b>
<pcomp> <accomp>]
sent [LCP ConfAck id=0x2 <mru 1500> <asyncmap 0x0> <magic 0x9f3b8e8b>
<pcomp> <accomp>]
sent [LCP EchoReq id=0x0 magic=0x24d2bb93]
peer refused to authenticate: terminating link
sent [LCP TermReq id=0x3 "peer refused to authenticate"]
rcvd [LCP TermReq id=0x3]
sent [LCP TermAck id=0x3]
rcvd [LCP TermAck id=0x3]
Connection terminated.

What's wrong?

a) when you post please make sure taht the formatting of the lines makes
the lines readable.

b) You asked teh remote side to authenticate themselves to you . They
refused. End of story.
Why are you asking the remote side to authenticate themselves to you? If
they are an ISP they will never do so.
(remove the require-chap or +chap option)
